CIC has been preparing all year for next month’s mega construction equipment trade show ConExpo-Con/Agg in Las Vegas.
Highlighting our activities will be the Crane Operator Skills Championship hosted by CIC andCrane & Rigging Hot Line. Two operators will be selected during a qualifying round on March 4-5 to join the 16 others who qualified during 2013 at regional events in the U.S. and Canada. In addition, Jesse Pettit, the 2012 Champion will compete to defend his title. Championship round takes place March 6-7 in the Gold Lot, booth G-2975.
A limited number of spots are available for operators interested in competing in the qualifier round. Visit www.craneoperatorrodeo.com to pre-register. The two Las Vegas Regional qualifying operators selected to advance to the Championship will receive cash prizes from CIC and Michels Machinery, a crane dealer and rental company based in Las Vegas.
During the Championship, the operators will be tested on a 265-ton Liebherr LTM 1220-5.2 all-terrain crane, sponsored by Liebherr Cranes. The crane course involves three load handling tasks, designed to test speed, agility, and accuracy. Two additional tasks—a crane simulator challenge provided by CM Labs and a Basic Rigging Exercise designed by The Crosby Group—will be factored into the overall score. The Champion operator receives $2,000 and customer belt buckle and jacket. First and Second Runners up receive $1000 and $500, respectively, plus other prizes.
CIC will be making several other announcements during the show. Be sure to visit Booth G-2975 to learn more about a new alliance with Institute for Safety and Health Management and a new Lift Director certification program.
