Become a Certified Practical Examiner for Crane Operator Testing
Thank you for your interest in becoming an Authorized Practical Examiner with Crane Institute Certification (CIC). As a CIC Practical Examiner, you will be authorized to administer practical exams at approved CIC exam sites. Your responsibilities will include scheduling candidates and conducting practical exams for CIC-registered candidate(s).
Becoming a practical examiner for crane operators provides several benefits, including increased industry recognition as a safety expert, career advancement opportunities, the potential to influence training standards, higher earning potential, and the ability to directly contribute to workplace safety by ensuring operators meet high competency levels through rigorous testing.
Eligibility Requirements
To become an Authorized CIC Practical Examiner, you must:
1. Be at least 21 years of age. Identity must be validated by presenting a valid (non-expired) government-issued photo ID (such as a Driver’s License, Passport, or Military ID).
Note: Applicants with felony convictions must pay for a background check and describe the felony conviction in writing. Their application will be reviewed by the CIC Quality Review Assurance Board to determine eligibility.
2. Practical Examiner Candidates must hold a current mobile crane operator certification from CIC or another accredited crane operator certification company.
3. Complete and submit the Authorized Practical Examiner Application with all related documentation. Register for the 3-Day Authorized Practical Examiner Training Course.
4. Practical Examiner Candidates will receive notification about eligibility status via email, and if approved, notification will also include information about scheduling and training.
5. Upon successfully completing the 3-day training program, associated exercises, and achieving a minimum score of 80% on the final exam, you will receive authorization as a CIC Practical Examiner.
